As a young boy, Chris had two big interests, architecture, and the Civil War. His drawings reflected the first in a very George Jetson kind of way. And he read everything the library had on the Civil War, never entirely understanding why friends, family, and country would tear themselves apart fighting over an obvious wrong. Once he bought his first camera, he discovered he could photograph the architecture of Chicago, although photographing the Civil War would prove more difficult. After a stint teaching high school students the evils of the split infinitive, Chis traded for 15 years on the Chicago Stock Exchange. Finally, with the full encouragement of his wife, Grace, Chris began photographing architecture and archaeology professionally. And although he doesn’t love the smell of fixer in the morning, there is something special about stop bath.
